In a day when your Wedding Photography choices ever-narrow to either poor photography or unreasonably high cost, our lovely couples smile a lot at us.  Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people who made 2007 our best year yet,  while 2008 promises to be even better, partly because you feel like talking about us.

That said....

All due respect to extraordinary musical artist Dan Fogelberg, who passed away on December 16, 2007 at age 56 at his home on Deer Isle., ME from Prostate cancer.  Neither his contributions to music nor to dignity will be forgotten.

***Hi!  Words to the Wise 5/11/2008***

By all accounts, the recent, dramatic increase of available photographers from 20 or 30 to lately a zillion per town or city listed at reputable, internet wedding sites does not indicate a sudden burst of creativity.  It does indicate a decline in the price of relatively decent SLR (interchangeable lens) digital cameras, which has attracted a glut of amateurish, part-time "photographers" incapable of memorable portrait photography,  who have little concept of artful lighting technique, shoot only in digital format to dodge the expense and finesse required to ever touch Medium Format film equipment, and otherwise most awfully represent the exciting art of Photojournalism in particular and Wedding Photography in general.  Lately inevitably sometime during a wedding shoot, I hear recently married couples complain about their Wedding Photography, unhappiness which most often involves "photographers" who claimed to practice "photojournalistic" or "documentary style" photography and profess to have some grasp of portraiture; but, despite quite misleadingly appealing websites and promises, in day-to-day reality merely deliver forgettable candids, no meaningful portraiture of a bride and groom together let alone with family members, and as heartbreakingly miss many requested shots altogether.  To read more about this and other matters of  importance, please visit my FAQ page.  Most of all, be extra careful and choosy--it's your Wedding Day, and it will only happen once.  If not me there are others who love their work as much as I do mine and will not disappoint you.  Thank you for reading, and all the best to you.

Kindly, Ernie

  • Film or Digital?  Our couples seek excellence at a fair price and we deliver the best of both worlds: High Resolution Digital for the candid/photojournalistic aspect of your Wedding Day, and Medium Format Film for your Formal Photography, because no matter the number of megapixels and no matter any salesman's claims, Medium Format remains superior to digital in rendering subtle gradations in skin tone critical for all Fine Portrait work, and when you come to see me I will show this to you.
  • If you prefer, 100% Digital is available upon request.
  • "Off-Season" rates: For your January-March Wedding, save $100 on our exceptional Wedding Photography coverage.
    • Whether or not I'm available as your Wedding Photographer, please visit our recently updated "FAQ" page for straight-forward answers to the most frequently questions about Wedding Photography.

    • I felt happy and proud to learn one of my photos of legendary musical artist Stephen Stills was recently requested for use by the RockWalk Hall Of Fame's website to publicize Stills' induction into the RockWalk.  Another of my Stills photos now appears on the Stephen Stills Children's Music Project photo page.  For more Crosby, Stills & Nash related photos, visit my "Gallery" page!
